Golden Cinema’s ‘Dead Ringer’ Features Famous Friends (Or Maybe Lookalikes)

Before releasing their latest single, “Dead Ringer,” Golden Cinema asked their friends for a little feedback first. Fortunately for them, they have a few famous friends who are well versed in the canon of bops. Their new video is chock full of cameo endorsements from what we assume are some well-known musicians… or at least some people who look exactly like them.

Like modern day messiahs, Golden Cinema have built their funky fun church on a foundation of rock – or more specifically, a bass line deserving of praise.

“Once I figured out that bass line, the rest of the song seemed to just fall into place,” says MacDonald, Golden Cinema’s vocalist and bass player, who also notes that, in an uncharacteristic sprint to the finish line the song’s lyrics manifested for him in a way that rarely happened before the moment and not at all since.

The results have been met with clearly universal approval, judging from the reactions from their musical friends.

“We sent the recording around to some friends, asking if they wouldn’t mind filming themselves listening, and were absolutely blown away by how creative people got with it,” says MacDonald.

“This video features friends, musicians and artists we have met over the years and even a few real-life celebrities. Our guitarist Chris (Robison) works for Tim Heidecker’s Office Hours podcast so Tim and the crew sent us videos to include. We’re all big fans so it’s quite surreal.”

The full list of cameo appearances on the video includes:
