Music Video: Keith Mullins and The Basinview Choir Sing ‘Stronger Together’

Keith Mullins isn’t ready to let 2020 get him down. The award-winning songwriter, and champion of champions, got a group of over 40 east coast musicians and students to virtually participate in the creation of a huge, socially distanced, virtual band. Singing “Stronger Together,” Mullins & Co. set out with one goal in mind: lifting our spirits during a universally difficult time.

Among the professional musicians Mullins tapped for the song are some of the east coast’s most celebrated: Jason Mingo, Meaghan Smith, Chris Kirby, Kev Corbett and Colin Grant.

They’re joined by the students of music teacher Carol Coutts at Basinview Community School in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Coutts worked with Mullins in pulling the project together and even created a submissions webpage for artists to upload their clips.

The video, created by Matthew Ingraham, depicts the artists and students singing and playing music from their homes, driving home the image of an entire community coming together in unity to uplift audiences and each other.

The heartwarming “Stronger Together” was also quickly taken on as part of a national ad campaign for The Desjardins Group.

“I wanted this because I can never stop,” says Mullins, “because of my passion for creation, music and collaboration, because of my passion to educate kids and to uplift people’s spirits!

“There’s nothing like the sound of a room full of kids singing. If you could put a sound to the feeling of hope, that would be it.”

Well aware of how difficult the past few months have been for the majority of the population, Mullins is hoping the positive mindset exhibited in the track will be contagious to its listeners.

“Sure, there is a lot of craziness in the world, but there’s a lot more love and that’s what I want my songs to contribute to.

“Anyone can choose to look at life any way they want. I choose hope, love and choose to surround myself in people that also choose that in some way. Some might say I’m not realistic, but I also believe in manifestation, so if it’s not… I’m working on it in a positive way.

“I feel like I owe it to my music to be better, to not care too much about what people think, and to believe wholeheartedly in what I do, even if only makes one person have a better day.”
