Music Video: KINLEY Hits the Racetracks for ‘Run With You’

One year following the release of her single “Run With You,” KINLEY is back with a video for the track. Brimming with horses and a lust for friendship, the new video touches on familiar imagery for residents of Prince Edward Island and will surely be a hit with all fans of all things equestrian.

The track, which was released in November of 2019, was originally written as a sort of love letter to a mystery Canadian musician who KINLEY says she looks up to.

“‘Run With You’ is a letter to a cool Canadian rock singer I have always admired,” says KINLEY. “No matter what I am feeling, the sound of her voice can make me drop everything and dance. In this song I wanted to thank her for the amazing music and the way it makes me feel. It is about how I want to hang out with her and not feel or care about anyone else’s judgement.”

The video portrays this message of admiration using equestrian imagery. With a setting based on the annual Gold Cup and Saucer Race in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, the footage features KINLEY and tells the story of how she meets a cool jockey, who she desires to become friends with, and how she feels she doesn’t quite measure up to this girl’s status.

The island’s Gold Cup and Saucer Race has been an annual event since the 1960s, and the video includes actual archival footage from years and decades past. Being an islander herself, KINLEY appears to hold the race close to her heart, as she does the mystery musician.

And while we do not know who exactly the track was written about, the sentiment behind it can surely be applied by many. Who among us doesn’t have a crush on a Canadian musician?
