Tyler Hache Specializes in Poetry but Dabbles in Eternity on ‘For Now and Forever’

Songwriter and poet Tyler Hache eyes up an eternity through the perspective of a writer with his latest single “For Now and Forever.” It’s a romantic view of a relationship that is just laying out its foundations, but with a confident surety whose only obstacle is a finite amount of time.

A recent graduate from the University of Toronto who has been completing his MA in English in the Field of Creative Writing, Hache’s musical releases are few and far between. His debut album, Silence, was released in 2015  and earned him Music/Musique NB’s award for Solo Recording of the Year. His work has also been featured in the film Love Alaska (2019) and featured in the television drama The Wedding Planners (2020). Other than these feathers in his cap, however, he’s kept a fairly low profile—clearly putting an emphasis on turning out quality over quantity while finishing school. We last heard from him in August 2020 for the release of his impressively historical fiction-laden single “Let the Colours Run.”

Those sporadic releases may no longer be the norm for Hache, however, now that he has completed his studies.

“This is the first song I am releasing since completing my master’s degree in creative writing at the University of Toronto, for which I focused on poetry,” explains Hache. “It’s directly about my relationship with Adèle, my girlfriend of six years, but it’s also more broadly about music and love being worthy responses to mortality.”

“I got you somehow, that’s what I’m thinking now, in my own words, so fickle next to yours, for now and forever,” sings Hache, stitching together time, love, and poetry all in the chorus.

“I chose to go with a stripped-down recording style for this song—just guitar and vocals—to emphasize the intimacy of the lyrics and to mimic the way it would be performed for a partner.”

“For Now and Forever” is a straightforward love, the kind that’ll never go out of season and, hopefully, the kind that endures.
