Music Video: We Are Not Worthy of Partner’s Sweet Shredding on the Wayne’s World-Inspired ‘Honey’

Partner is back with their final single- “Honey” – ahead of the release of Never Give Up, their new album out November 20th through You’ve Changed Records. It rocks. It rolls. It schwings. And it comes with the Wayne’s World-inspired video you didn’t know you needed.

“Honey” tells the story of how band member Josée Caron got her signature guitar- a fitting pairing for the cinematic icon of gear coveting.

“In this track, we recall how she [the guitar] first found her way to our house and joined the band,” explain the duo. “It came with a note (from Josée’s dad) ‘This guitar sounds just like honey going down.’ Get ready for some straight-up rock n roll.”

The video is composed of a wealth of low-budget TV gags that ring of the classic movie and includes the band as Wayne and Garth interviewing themselves. It’s janky where it needs to be and provides the aesthetic needed to pay homage to Wayne’s World, a noble undertaking for any post-classic rock group.

Video aside, “Honey” is as craveable as its namesake. It’s the best kind of earworm, the melody bobbing along on the playful rhythm of the riffs. Partner’s wit and polished delivery make for more than just retro-rock, the catchy storytelling making you grin and bounce with the energy. Think Best Coast with a tighter punch, with the soul of head-banging rock burning underneath.

Partner pulls off a one-two punch of sugar on this release. The music for ‘Honey’ alone is a total treat and is sure to keep fans humming, but paired with a visual homage to Wayne’s World, its likeable score is through the roof. It’s a babe. It’s a robo-babe. It’s Baberaham Lincoln. And it “sounds just like honey going down.”

Never Give Up, the sophomore follow up to the band’s 2017 release In Search of Lost Timeis set to be released November 20, 2020.
