Music Video: Alan Doyle Partners with Dean Brody for ‘We Don’t Wanna Go Home’

A younger Alan Doyle once belonged to a band that famously sang the lines, “We stopped the clock so Mrs. Murphy couldn’t tell the time, and at a quarter after two we argued it was nine.” Great Big Sea stood as Canada’s party band for years, and with it came the expectation to party hard and party long themselves. Several years and a solo career later, Doyle is still holding on with his new single “We Don’t Wanna Go Home”.

Along with CCMA and JUNO award winner Dean Brody, Doyle stands bar-side to serenade you with his justifications for a night out – venturing into the territory of New Country as he looks you dead in the eyes to deliver his pleas. There’s no humorous shenanigans involved in keeping this bar open late; Alan Doyle just wants to remind you that he’s Alan Doyle and has the steely blues to prove it.

The real star of the video, however, is Newfoundland photographer David Howells who has captured the elusive magic of candid wild life at this pub. We can clearly see what Doyle is singing about in a way that makes the 2020 East Coast Music Awards in St. John’s Newfoundland seem all that more appealing.
