Music Video: The Bloody Hell Go All out on NSFW Stop Motion Video for ‘Out of Our Minds’

Ever find yourself working on a project and thinking it needs to be sexy but not TOO sexy, so you toss  in a demonic figure or two just to even things out? It’s a bold artistic direction to take, but perhaps the safer of two options as The Bloody Hell prove with their new video for “Out of Our Minds.”

The band collaborated with stop motion artist Diane Lindo, known for her dark and pointed videos, to create something NSFW and more than a little disturbing using little more than a couple of dolls, a bit of brains, and a lot of imagination.

“I’d been following her work on Instagram for a while and always loved the style,” says Ian Kean, the band’s singer and guitarist. “Lucky for us she was into the band and the concept I put forth for the video. She was an absolute dream to work with and I highly recommend everyone check out her Instagram page for more amazing content. She really captured the vibe of the song and brought the concept to life in a way that was blatant yet abstract, creep yet fun. She absolutely nailed it.

“We wanted something creepy and abstract but to loosely fit the lyrics and had an over arching theme. The concept of the shadow creature was something we wanted to focus on, which is sort of the antagonistic of the story.”

Kean says that the band had to make some very important decisions in the direction that the video took, just to keep things tasteful, even while wandering well past the territory of an R rating.

“We had to cut down on the doll sex a bit after the first few edits, but felt it suited the over-the-topness of the visuals so we kept a healthy chuck of gratuitous doll sex,” laughs Kean. “It was a tough creative decision to go through with it or just take it out, but we tried without it and found that without it wasn’t as good. Once it was condensed down and put just over the solo section we knew that it the right call to include it. It 100% fits the theme and lyrics of the song so we just had to find the right amount and placement to make it work.”

The Bloody Hell are currently in the pre-production phase for plenty of new material and will be heading back into New Scotland Yard Studio in December. The band also have a string of Spring tour dates in the works so you can hear it in person.
