During tonight’s The Blacktop Ball 2019 Launch Party at HaliMac Axe Throwing – Halifax, the festival announced their 2019 lineup. Situated on the Northumberland Shore of Ponds of Pictou County, Nova Scotia, The Blacktop Ball is produced by Groundwell Music, while curated and headlined annually by The Stanfields. It’s The Stanfields’ annual celebration of all things Nova Scotia, now with more axe throwing.
With an evening of events hosted by Tom Bedell of Q104 Halifax, and featuring opening performances from headliners The Stanfields and Halifax’s Cameron Nickerson, who will also be gracing the Blacktop Ball stage this summer, the festival announced their lineup of predominantly east coast musicians.
Aside from The Stanfields, who will be performing no less than three times, the full Blacktop Ball 2019 lineup includes: Garrett Mason, Jah’Mila, Laura Merriman, Museum Pieces, Cameron Nickerson, Gabrielle Papillon, Matt Steele & The Corvette Sunset, The Monoxides, Carmel Mikol, and Cam MacMaster.
And, as it was to be expected, the festival have upheld their policy of “If you wouldn’t hug ’em, don’t bring ’em!”
The surprise announcement of the night was the welcome addition of the festival’s “The Dogs of Blacktop Ball Pageant – BYOD,” giving a very firm answer to the perennial question brought up again and again by festival-goers: “Can I bring my dog?”
This year, as you might have guessed from the location of the announcement, the 2019 Blacktop Ball will be partnering with HaliMac Axe Throwing legitimately incorporate axe throwing into the festival, presumably along with plenty of safety protocols.
The Blacktop Ball takes place in Ponds, Pictou County on August 8th and 9th, 2019. Tickets go on sale April 9th, and currently range from their $35.00 Spring Saver Day Passes to the $90 Spring Saver Weekend Camping Pass. Passes are on sale until June 22nd when they return to their regular prices. Tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite.
