Kids Losing Sleep Go Big, Not Bright, on New Single ‘Smile Anyway’

In 2003, Las Vegas rock juggernauts The Killers released their monumentally successful single “Mr. Brightside” along with its B-side counterpart, “Smile Like You Mean It.” Of course, 2003 was a very different time and while Halifax emo-pop band Kids Losing Sleep namedrop The Killers as a major inspiration, KLS’  latest single, “Smile Anyway,” is a little more suited to 2021. Monthly Roundup: July 2021

Welcome to the end of July! Maybe it’s just because we’ve completely lost our perception of time over the last year and a half, but this month and this summer feel like they’ve flown past faster than they have any right to. It’s hard to believe that just thirty days ago we were releasing our staff picks for The Best Music of 2021 (So Far) and we’re already staring down the barrel of back-to-school supplies.

The Trews Announce Their Seventh Album with New Single ‘The Wanderer’

No one has been more eager to hit the road than Antigonish-expats The Trews. While many bands released music over the last year and a year that lamented their woeful circumstances, the loss of their livelihood, the lack of live audiences, and languishing without being able to do what they love most, few did it on the same scale as The Trews did with their single “I Wanna Play” — though they did get to play to a max capacity arena at the time (read: empty).

According to the band, this lackluster period of our lives has not been without a silver lining. It’s been the percolator that’s brought their newly announced seventh studio album to a boil, simultaneously bringing about a bizarre source of inspiration while stripping them of all distraction. The album’s title track, “The Wanderer” was released today. Continue reading The Trews Announce Their Seventh Album with New Single ‘The Wanderer’
