Halifax Pop Explosion Tease Ten Artists From 2018 Lineup

Halifax Pop Explosion might be in their 26th year, but they’re still a tease. Today, they trickled out the first ten artists of their 2018 lineup, and it’s more than enough to get us excited. The four-day event will be taking over Halifax from October 17-20, 2018.

Halifax Pop Explosion has long touted itself as a festival of discovery; they’ve been pushing the envelope since 1993. From their very first festival they’ve been hosting musicians at the forefront of their genres, and they perhaps unsurprisingly needn’t look all that far from home. The first Halifax Pop Explosion featured New Brunswick indie band turned international indie legends Eric’s Trip, Halifax indie rockers Plumtree, and Dinosaur Jr/Sebadoh/The Folk Implosion’s Lou Barlow.

This year’s festival promises to be no different as Halifax Pop Explosion brings in some of the industry’s big names, many of which are making their first appearances on Canada’s East Coast.

“HPX is the festival for fans of live music. This year’s lineup might be a new sound for a lot of people, but the idea is the same as always: we want you to get out there and experience live music discovery,” says James Boyle, Executive Director of the Halifax Pop Explosion.

“We’re still working hard behind the scenes to program the rest of this year’s lineup, and we’re focused on curating a collection of artists that contribute to a larger live music experience for festival goers.”

The ten artists announced today include: Zola Jesus, Born Ruffians, Cupcakke, Cadence Weapon, Sean Leon, Reuben and the Dark, Helena Deland, Fat Tony and Apple Cat. They are join previously announced Port Cities, who will be performing with Symphony Nova Scotia.

Limited amounts of early-bird festival wristbands are on sale now for $65.00 (plus taxes & fees) and are available HERE.
