Nova Scotia pianist Jennifer King presents a selection of etudes by award-winning composer Emily Doolittle. An interesting work to analyse, Minute Etudes collects six of Doolittle’s one-minute pieces, captured live from King’s performance. Each piece intends to exercise a facet of composition while also invoking a target emotion. The entire work is under ten minutes long. Music Video: The Trews Hint at Plenty of New Music With Release of ‘Touch’

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a whole year since The Trews released their last album, Civilianaires, mostly because it’s still in heavy rotation and regularly providing the anthem for spontaneous office dance parties. The album proves the band haven’t lost their edge at all; debuting at #1 on the Alternative Album Chart, their JUNO nomination for Rock Album of the Year, and winning them Rock Group of The Year at Canadian Music Week’s Jim Bean Indie Awards. So it’s a little curious when “Touch,” the new video from The Trews, is all about feeling disconnected. Maybe that rock and roll lifestyle has been just a little bit too good.
