Tired of Earth, Matt Boudreau Launches Into Space

To mark the end of another year of the end of the world, Matt Boudreau took off for a tour through space and documented it all for us. Now paired with his track “MissingNo” off of his 2020 album Armageddon, the video of Boudreau’s space odyssey is ready for viewing.

Clearly travelling well into the realm of the absurdly surreal, Boudreau’s space odyssey ventures off to places where explorers simply gave up when it came to coming up with creative new names for astral bodies. The adventure takes place on the planet Cat Litter of the Wet Food 96 Galaxy, where a space army squadron was held captive since their prime minister stole a little ball that goes “squeak squeak” from the cats of Cat Litter. The video depicts the grand battle that ensues and marks just the first leg of Mouette Sounds Studio’s journey through space.

In making the video, Boudreau says that he wanted to include visual representations of the inspirations that went into the making of Armageddon. With the use of greenscreen and copious special effects, a lot of time was inevitably spent at the Centre d’excellence en arts médiatiques in Shediac, where director and founder Jean-Pierre Desmarais applied his specialized knowledge to the project, along with added contributions and creativity of Louis-Philippe Chiasson and Sylvain Ward.

The culmination of culture, technology and meme sciences, “MissingNo” finds itself right in that sweet spot where Pickle Cat meets Keyboard Cat; representing the ultimate ideals of the internet. If we can’t find peace and harmony on this planet, then the least we can do is set off in search of keytar battles on distant horizons.

As the longest track on the album, “MissingNo” made the perfect fit to play alongside the first leg of Boudreau’s space epic.
