Acadie Rock Brings a Road Trip Through Acadia to Your Living Room

Held each year on or around August 15th in celebration of National Acadian Day, Acadie Rock will not be skipping this year due to the pandemic. Instead, the festival will be celebrating in their own new and unique way. Combining an aired special on Radio-Canada and a musical road trip across Acadia, Acadie Rock 2020 will be one for the books.

With Gabriel Robichaud’s poetry collection, Acadie Road, serving as the roadmap for the event, participants will be invited to travel virtually throughout Acadia to experience the festivities and celebrate Acadian heritage.

Artists set to perform during the broadcast — in order from point A to point B — include Gabriel Robichaud, Lisa LeBlanc, Ben Morter, Salebarbes, Zachary Richard, Spoutnique, Maggie Savoie, Rémi Arsenault, Isabelle Savoie, Hubert Francis, Pascal Lejeune, Matt Boudreau, Chloé Breault, Vishtèn, Jourdan Thibodeaux, Kelli Jones, Daniel Léger, Simon Daniel, Christine Melanson, François Édmond, Julie Aubé, Tampa, Roxanne Dupuis, Estelle Dupuis, Sabrina Dupuis, Jacques Surette, Jacques Binn, Guyaume Boulianne, Charles Robichaud, Normand Pothier, Daniel Leblanc, Monique Comeau, Melissa Comeau, DansEncorps, Chantal Cadieux, Sirène et Matelot and Troiselle.

Members of the public are also invited to film festive videos of themselves for submission to Acadie Rock’s virtual Tintamarre. The Tintamarre will be aired on Radio-Canada as part of the festival’s special broadcast, and participants have until July 22nd to submit their videos HERE. In the videos, the festival hopes to see how each individual or group celebrates their Acadie, and they want you to give it all of the energy and noise you’ve got.

Set to air on August 15th, the broadcast’s showtime has yet to be announced.

For those who would like to follow along during the broadcast (or simply enjoy Acadian poetry), Acadie Road can be purchased at Librairie La grande Ourse, Librairie acadienne, Librairie Pélagie and Librairie Matulu.

More information on this year’s broadcast and festivities will be available on Acadie Rock’s website HERE.
