Single: Carry The Lost Loudly Champion Getting Outside on ‘Pick Your Poison’

In the six months following the release of Carry the Lost’s last single, “Battle Tested,” the whole world has changed. The Halifax band, once so confident in their status as veterans of hard rock, has had to manage expectations due to the current status of the pandemic. Their latest single, “Pick Your Poison” is a drums-first coaxing towards a more familiar level of social engagement.

“Pick Your Poison” is the second single to be released off of Carry the Lost’s debut record, which was originally expected to see the light of day sometime during the Spring of 2020. (Spoiler alert: nothing went according to plan during Spring 2020.)

The band took special pride in the lyrics crafted for the single, describing them as some of the “most dynamic, heavy, and melodic songwriting the band has put to record.” They went the extra distance to bring in Jessie Brown, to perform some rich backing vocals on the tune.

The song advocates for getting out and taking part in literally just about anything that the world has been deprived of since March. Presumably written well before lockdown went into place, the song still serves as a call-to-arms for the stir-crazy.

“The song is about going out socializing, partying, letting go, and not letting the negative ever get you down,” says Carry the Lost’s lead singer and rhythm guitarist Colin Tye.

“The ‘pick your poison’ line is about how everybody has their own vice that they use and chase when they go out, whether it is alcohol, drugs, sex, fighting, etc…. Yet the message isn’t trying to come out and endorse or condone anything of that nature.”

There’s been no word yet as to when you will be able to go out and get yourself a copy of Carry The Lost’s debut album.
