Single: Mike Aubé Highlights What Is Truly Important in Life With ‘Together’

The newest single by alt-folk singer-songwriter Mike Aubé came at a moment more timely than could have been predicted in its making. Focusing on the moments we spend with our loved ones, “Together” highlights the importance of companionship and emphasizes the importance of appreciating the little things: a notion more important now than ever.

Engineered by Dale Murray and featuring Christina Martin on harmony vocals, “Together” was inspired by Aubé’s fond memories of times spent with his family.

“The first line about pushing my daughter on the swing was the memory that was the initial spark for it,” says Aubé. “And then I thought about what other small snapshots someone might look back on with that kind of fondness.”

The track carries a genuine folk sound and has its vocals at the forefront. Behind the voice are soft guitar and mandolin melodies, giving the song a mellow and emotive feel. This pairs well with the lyrics that speak of special moments spent with family and friends, like collecting shells at the beach, hiking to the river to fish, playing board games until the early hours of the morning, and more.

Leading up to the release, Aubé began his Little Moments 2020 campaign, encouraging people to reflect on the little things that, when all added together, make our lives brighter. For the campaign, Aubé is asking fans to share with him a little moment that means something to them. What the result of this project will look like, however, is yet to be known.

It is a little mysterious, even to me,” says Aubé, “because I’m still not 100% sure of what I will do with all the submissions once this is all over. But the most important part is really about encouraging people to reflect on ‘little moments’ that bring meaning to their lives. The act of reminiscing on those moments and writing me two or three sentences about their picnic with their kid or playing cards with their Dad in the nursing home is really the main point — taking time to be grateful for those things.”

While Aubé does have a couple of ideas for where he will take the project, he says he is keeping it open-ended, because his submissions may spark brand new inspiration in him as they continue to filter in.

You, too, can share your little moment HERE.

In addition, Aubé says he has a video for the track in the works. Listeners can expect to see a home video, compilation-style visual for the track near the end of April.

It is nearly impossible to listen to “Together” without coming away from it feeling appreciative for all the things that add up and make your life what it is — and make it great. Aubé’s genuine emotions shine through in the track and remind us to stop and appreciate all of the good that surrounds us.
