Shivering Songs Announce First Five Headliners of 2019

October is upon us and, along with the frost and falling leaves. inevitably comes the early festival announcements of 2019. First among them, naturally enough is Shivering Songs, who will be hosting their ninth edition between January 22nd and 27th in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

To subject us to the most anticipation-educing method of rolling out their lineup, the festival have elected to trickle out the artists one at a time. We’ve saved you the trouble of refreshing your feed by condensing the first five. So far the initial lineup for Shivering Songs includes two-time JUNO award winning & two-time Polaris Music Prize nominated musician Dan Mangan, recent Polaris Price winner Jeremy Dutcher, Blue Rodeo co-founder Greg Keelor, “future legend” Bedouine, and Nova Scotia’s award-winning powerhouse Erin Costelo.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Jeremy Dutcher’s historic Polaris Prize victory, with a homecoming show at Shivering Songs,” said Festival co-organizer Zach Atkinson.

“It’s an honour to present Jeremy alongside Juno Award winner Dan Mangan, iconic Canadian songwriter Greg Keelor, Bedouine, who we consider to be the next big thing, and Halifax’s hidden treasure, Erin Costelo.”

Shivering Songs organizers also announced this year that the festival will now be an extended six day event in 2019, moving its popular United Way co-presentation Songs of the City to a Tuesday night kickoff slot. The ninth edition will also feature a Thursday night performance in the Wilmot United Church with Greg Keelor, and additional performances to be announced in the lead-up to the Festival.

“While the music is beyond comparison, the secret weapon of Shivering Songs is certainly their gorgeous space,” said award winning local architect and past performer, John Leroux. “It’s an incredible feeling being in a historic treasure that’s so full of music and life, where the 19th century and the 21st dovetail perfectly.”

We’re also going to put money on the chance there will be at least one performance by festival mainstays and organizers The Olympic Symphonium.

Weekend passes and individual show tickets will go on sale Friday October 5th, 2018 at www.shiveringsongs.com.
