Herman Monster Returns For Third Book, ‘Cornelius’s Conundrum: The Sewer Central Star’

The adventures of Herman the Monster continue. After waiting a full year since the release of A New Song for Herman, Fredericton’s favourite little monster is returning for a third book in the series from Monster House Publishing, Cornelius’s Conundrum: The Sewer Central Star.

Regular champions of friendship, problem solving, being yourself, and practicing your singing. This time the series takes a gritty turn.  Cornelius’s Conundrum: The Sewer Central Star centres around one of Herman’s best friends, Cornelius and his misadventures with the ever-corrupting influences of rock and roll.

Or more accurately, Monster House Publishing describe Cornelius’s Conundrum: The Sewer Central Star as:

“The Street Monsters decide to form a band to compete at the Sewer Central Arena’s Battle of the Bands, but Cornelius’s nasty attitude puts a damper on all the fun. Can Cornelius overcome his stage fright to become a Sewer Central Star? Will the Street Beats get to open for the inimitable Cha Cha Pompador?

This nostalgic romp through rock n’ roll history is as fun for parents as it is for kids. Through Cornelius’ bullying behaviours, parents can start a conversation around this important topic.”

Coming from author and Monster House Publishing owner Paul McAllister it’s unsurprising that the stories continues with its musical theme. McAllister has been the longtime organizer of Folly Fest, an annual music festival held in Gagetown, New Brunswick.

“Bullying comes from many different places,” says McAllister. “Cornelius might not be the easiest monster to get along with, but that doesn’t mean that Herman and his pals abandon him! I hope Cornelius’s Conundrum can be a conversation starter for sensitive subjects. We can’t wait to get this book into families and classroom!”

Cornelius’s Conundrum: The Sewer Central Star will launch on November 10th, 2018, at the Fredericton Public Library. This free, family-friendly event will feature a reading of the new book, hands-on art activity, and a reading by Paula Maguire for her new title (also out through Monster House Publishing), Whose Shoes Would You Choose?. The event will run from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.

Pre-orders for Cornelius’s Conundrum are now up online (www.monsterhousepublishing.com), or purchase them in person at Westminster Books, Chapters & Indigo (Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John) and at various craft fairs throughout the province this Fall.
