SappyFest, New Brunswick’s most earnest indie weirdo music festival have come within inches of announcing their full 2018 festival lineup, probably. Today’s festival roster packs a punch of local favourites and enough names to flesh out a weekend worth of music, though some of their obscure language hints that the festival may still have be a few surprises left in the wings.
Halifax’s dance maestro/self-powered touring machine Rich Aucoin joins the lineup today, along with resident East Coast K-pop band Century Egg, songwriter extraordinaire Michael Feuerstack, recent concept album space captain Pat LePoidevin, Rotten Column, Double Vision, Washing Machine, Ten Boy Summer, Sackville’s own Steve Haley, Montreal’s BBQT, Delta Blip, and DBPS are among the artists added to the SappyFest 13 lineup.
They’ll be joining the previously announced acts of Ansley Simpson, BA Johnston, Bart Vautour, Bonjay, Boyhood, The Burning Hell, Century Egg, Cris Derksen, Darlene Shrugg, Dog Day, Elizabeth Copeland and Beverly Glenn Copeland, Emma Healey, Erick Garcia Gomez, Ice Cream, Jaime Forsythe, Jennifer Castle, Jeremy Dutcher, Jesi Jordan, Julie & The Wrong Guys, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, Motherhood, Nap Eyes, Nick Ferrio, People-People-Working, Quaker Parents, Rotten Column, Special Costello, U.S. Girls, WHOOP-Szo, and Witch Prophet.
Festival organizers also announced today some further offerings of SappyFest’s expanded programming. which also includes poetry readings by Jaime Forsythe and Bart Vautour, a dance performance by Katie Ewald, Leanne Dyer, and Katie Ward (performing as People-People-Working), a creative movement workshop called Daring To Dance led by Elizabeth Copeland and Beverly Glenn Copeland, art and performances by Jesi Jordan, and an exhibition by Erick Garcia Gomez.
