ECMAs: First Set of 2018 Winners Announced

Tonight, the East Coast Music Association announced 13 of the 2018 winners of East Coast Music Awards, including Rose Cousins, KINLEY, Les Païens and Joel Plaskett. Also honoured at tonight’s event were City Natives, Jacques Jacobus, Measha Brueggergosman, Matt Minglewood, Jenn Grant and Sloan. 

Here are the award winners announced tonight:

Album of the Year:

Bucky Adams Memorial Award:

Directors’ Special Achievement Award:
Sloan

Fans’ Choice Entertainer of the Year:
Matt Minglewood

Fans’ Choice Video of the Year:

Francophone Recording of the Year:
Jacques Jacobus – Le retour de Jacobus

Group Recording of the Year:
Les Païens – Carte noire

Indigenous Artist of the Year:
City Natives

Pop Recording of the Year:
Jenn Grant – Paradise

Rap/Hip Hop Recording of the Year:
Quake Matthews – Celebrate the Struggle

Rising Star Recording of the Year:
KINLEY – Letters Never Sent

Song of the Year:

Songwriter of the Year:
Joel Plaskett

There is so much more planned for this week, including the Argyle Street Fest, Songwriters’ Circle, Molson Late Night Stages, Q104 Rock Stages and numerous other shows and events. Music is going to take over the streets of Halifax, and we can’t wait to see you all there!

The rest of this year’s East Coast Music Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 6th as part of the East Coast Music and Industry Awards celebration at the Nova Scotia Ballroom in the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. and feature performances by Lennie Gallant, Ouroboros, Heather Rankin and Jenn Grant.
