Moon Mist Sees Spirit of the Wildfire Member Jayson LeMoine Exploring his Synthwave Roots on ‘The Needle ft. Katie Wayne’

No longer simply the second-best flavour of ice cream (Love Live Peanut Butter Fudge Crunch!), Moon Mist is the new solo project from Jayson LeMoine. Best known as a member of the ECMA award-winning band Spirit of the Wildfire, Moon Mist is a hard left turn away from punk rock and into an eclectic world of Synthwave.

His debut single, “The Needle” features Halifax’s Katie Wayne on vocals, and a tale of lovers—no longer romantic intertwined, but bound together by addiction. Continue reading Moon Mist Sees Spirit of the Wildfire Member Jayson LeMoine Exploring his Synthwave Roots on ‘The Needle ft. Katie Wayne’

Postfun Turn out a Bright Outlook on the Bittersweet Nature of Creation and Pop Music with ‘The River is a Folk Song’

Jack Murtha has a very particular set of skills; skills that he has acquired over a very long couple of years, two bands, various jazz combos, and a marketing and entrepreneurship course at Saint Mary’s University. Now he’s applying them to his latest project: Postfun.

Already known for his work with Halifax-based bands Social Smokers Club and norc, Murtha set out in the ashes of the industry, fleshing out his work with collaborators Mackenzie Adams, Carter MacDonald, Thomas Hart and Kevin Laing and further tapping the talents of producer John Mullane (In-Flight Safety) and session player Dale Murray (pedal steel). We’re not seeing the fruits of their labour emerge in the form of “The River is a Folk Song.” Continue reading Postfun Turn out a Bright Outlook on the Bittersweet Nature of Creation and Pop Music with ‘The River is a Folk Song’

Now, with the release of this single nearly a year later, Tachichi reminds all of us that little has changed, least of all the message: Black Lives Matter. Continue reading A Year Later, Tachichi’s ‘Hashtag BLM ft. Skratchbastid and Jah’Mila’ Reminds Us That the Message Hasn’t Changed

Mitch Currie Tackles the Anxiety of Languishing on ‘Knife In My Neck’

“I’m just hoping for a little change,” sings Mitch Currie before comparing his current situation to a knife in his neck. It’s a pretty passive response to such a dire complaint but considering that Currie, like the rest of us, is suffering from an acute case of languishing, pacing has turned into a major theme. Currie’s latest single, “Knife in my Neck,” is an expression of his frustrations at having his life stalled, just at the point when it was about to take off.
