Music Video: Chris Kirby Shows That Muppets Can Be a Love Language With ‘Victoria’

How else do you tell someone you love them besides immortalizing them in song? You stick the landing by making a muppet in their likeness and then produce a music video that encapsulates both and ensures your love will live on forever and be shared with thousands of people on the internet. It’s hard to believe that this still needs to be explained to people in 2020 but it still needs to be said. Kermit the Frog released “Rainbow Connection” 41 years ago.

Fortunately, East Coast Roots/Soul artist Chris Kirby is fluent in this love language. His latest single—“Victoria”—exemplifies such grand gestures. Kirby explains that the acoustic-driven Roots/Soul number was musically-inspired by Bill Withers, lyrically-inspired by his wife  Victoria, and the video, as you might have assumed, was inspired by the Muppets. New Music: Loviet Releases Stunning Debut EP ‘Everyone Knows The Thrill When It’s Over’

In an exercise akin to a six-word short story, indie-pop rocker Loviet packs a massive narrative into her debut EP Everyone Knows The Thrill When It’s Over. It’s a pretty slick trick to pull off on a blink-and-you’ve-missed-it three-song release, but in just over 10 minutes Loviet exposes some universally experienced wounds for an insert-your-own-pain-here narrative. Music Video: Electric City Underground Transcends Conscious Creation to Explore ‘The Beat’

Electric City Underground, AKA Paul Charron, Kirk Comstock and Jordi Comstock, AKA Air Traffic Control After Dark, have released a new video for “The Beat” from their ninth EP (the appropriately titled 9). Well into the territory of dance music, the song is a celebration unto itself and a self-actualized argument for escapism that needs no justification beyond its own existence, but the fact that we’re living in 2020 certainly helps. Single: Owen Meany’s Batting Stance Returns With a Fine Art Fallout on ‘He(art) Attack’

The first single from Owen Meany’s Batting Stance in nearly four years unfolds like a two-minute comprehensive first-year course in art history. The intensely-layered “He(art) Attack” covers a lot of ground as it name-drops from Escher to Monet, as Daniel Walker pits his lyrical wit against a fine art fallout, as he compares the end of a relationship to a confusing tangle of shape and colour. Naturally, it’s left open to some interpretation. Continue reading Single: Owen Meany’s Batting Stance Returns With a Fine Art Fallout on ‘He(art) Attack’

Music Video: Juicebox Go the ‘Social Distance’ with New Single

Quarantine. Day 106. The world keeps turning and yet life, as we once knew it, has ended. Some are better suited for this brave new world than others. Those, like Juicebox, who have prepared for this outcome with years of mental and physical conditioning have a responsibility to assistant those who had previously been more socially inclined.  Juicebox’s latest single, “Social Distance,” is a prime example of how any lifestyle might be successfully adapted for our new, hug-free, future.
