Music Video: Apryll Aileen Crafts a Strong Message for Women to Reclaim Their Bodies on ‘Wild Wolvez’

Apryll Aileen is shifting into a dark electronic sound and throwing down some strong feminine energy with her newest single and video release, “Wild Wolvez.” Encouraging sisterhood, support and self-acceptance, Aileen is fighting back against our society’s misogynistic values.

Filled with themes of body positivity and encouragement for women to learn to love the bodies they are in, the track is crafted to instill strong feminine energy in the listener.

“From watching the Brett Kavanaugh trials, it ignited a spark inside me that wanted to create a song to empower women,” says Aileen. “‘Wild Wolvez’ is a message for women to reclaim our bodies, our wild nature and our sexuality by choosing who we become through the stories that make us. Instead of hiding secrets, these wolves are ready to expose everything so that it can be healed. But you can’t start healing until you know where the pain is coming from and why.”

The track’s video, which was filmed and edited by Michael Stemm (Down to Earth Productions), features Aileen as well as three other women and a teenage girl. While the four adult women show support for one another, they also show support and encouragement for the teenage girl, who is still internally fighting the messages she receives from mainstream media and has a long way to go on her journey to self-acceptance.

Stemm is best known in some circles for his production of promotional videos for the Future Forest EDM festival, and the strobing effects he’s applied to “Wild Wolvez” carries much of the same energy as you’d expect from the woodsy dance party.

Apryll Aileen is in the midst of recording her second studio album, titled Rising Tides, with Grammy-nominated producer Daniel Lafrombe Evans (better known as his stage name LVR). Aileen describes her new work as incorporating the familiar pop sounds and moody piano vibes we’re used to hearing from her, but with an added element of modern electronic drum beats, the influences of which can most immediately and obviously be heard in “Wild Wolvez.” Rising Tides is expected to be released sometime in early 2021.
