Five months after the release of Devarrow’s intensely expressive sophomore self-titled album, comes a minimalist video for “A Dream, The Veil” that features a lonesome Graham Ereaux at a piano, picking away at the things that haunt him.
Filmed by James Gaudet, “A Dream, The Veil” is suited to the song’s forlorn simplicity, with Ereaux singing against a backdrop of empty walls about regret and a metaphorical Schrödinger’s Box of fears.
“I am afraid, I am afraid of letting go,
I am afraid, I am afraid of going home”
It fits well into the album; delving into the nasty business of life, of loss, the rigours of getting older, and the sense of perfectly normal paranoia which, supposedly, everyone in the universe experiences. Naturally, the other side of the coin implies that the song is also about choosing to face those fears and accepting that many of them, painful though they may be, are inevitable.
Devarrow also note they will be embarking on a grand adventure with their very first coast-to-coast tour, complete with the band in tow.
