Erin Costelo really committed to the role in her new music video for “My Love,” along with Clive MacNutt, her partner and bandmate of ten years. The two got hitched and celebrated as any dedicated musicians would: having the occasion serve double-duty to produce a music video.
“Well, I wanted to write a love song. I actually haven’t written a true love song before. Any relationship song was really a break up song! And I think Clive was getting a little concerned!,” laughs Costelo. “I wanted to write something that felt like a celebration. Something that felt truthful and earnest but not too saccharine. I guess this song is for the romantics. Those brave folks that want to shout it from the rooftops.”
Since the pair were in the middle of a tour they basically already way to eloping. The ceremony itself cost all of $49.
“After dating for 10 years, we got married on a day off from tour and then went to LA and made this video with my great friend Mat Dunlap,” says Costelo. “Mat and I have worked together since my first album and I knew he would capture the heart of the song.”
Costelo and MacNutt spent the day running around around Santa Monica and Echo Park, taking in the sights and celebrating with videographer Matt Dunlap in tow, filming the whole experience.
