Music•Musique NB is continuing their cycle of celebrating New Brunswick’s music while celebrating the province itself. They’re wrapping up a 14-year cycle around the province that has taken Festival (560), their migrating musical event, from Moncton, Caraquet, Miramichi, Fredericton, Saint John, Saint Andrews, and finally returning to Edmundston for the first time since 2006. The three day-long event of public concerts and industry conferences also plays host to the Prix MNB Awards, celebrating the best of New Brunswick’s musical talents.
“Creative expression in both official languages is crucial to the continued vitality of the province’s cultural industries,” says Penelope Stevens, president of the MNB Board of directors. “For that reason, we’re eager to get back to Northern New Brunswick, working with partners in the Edmundston’s music scene to present Festival (506).
“Edmundston is a dynamic musical hub and is an important tour stop for regional artists, and we’re excited to capitalize on this growth to showcase our province’s brightest musical talents!”
Edmundston Mayor Cyrille Simard echoes the sentiment with enthusiasm in welcoming the festival to the city.
“We are proud to welcome this great festival, here in Edmundston. Music runs deep in our city, and such an event is sure to attract the community’s interest. With our top-notch facilities and people ready to roll up their sleeves, I have no doubt that Festival (506) will be a great success in Edmundston. We are looking forward to October!”
The festival is currently in the process of calling for submissions for showcasing artists. To be eligible, applicants must be members of Music•Musique NB. Submissions close on April 24, 2020. Festival (506) is taking place October 22 to 24, 2020. Music•Musique NB have not yet announced when ticket will go on sale.
