Music Video: KINLEY Crafts Pop Rock Ode to Mysterious Canadian Rock Star with ‘Run With You’

Following up on her Music PEI Award and double East Coast Music Award-winning debut 2016 solo album, Letters Never Sent, Hey Rosetta! alumna KINLEY has released a new video for “Run With  You.” The song serves as both the opening track for her upcoming self-titled sophomore album and a clear ode to someone on stage making all the right moves.

“Run With You” is a catchy pop rock song produced by Colin Buchanan (Paper Lions) with Greg Alsop (Tokyo Police Club) on drums, and features Liam Corcoran (Two Hours Traffic) on backup vocals.

Without naming names, KINLEY makes a clear case for idolizing one particular rock star; romanticizing their dark energy and their ability to light up a room at the same time. KINLEY doesn’t give much away in the details, besides the fact that they are clearly Canadian.

“’Run With You’ is a letter to a cool Canadian rock singer I have always admired,” shares KINLEY. “No matter what I am feeling the sound of her voice can make me drop everything and dance. In this song I wanted to thank her for the amazing music and the way it makes me feel. It is about how I want to hang out with her and not feel or care about anyone else’s judgement.”

So at the tail end of this mystery is a Canadian musician of longstanding fame with a dark energy capable of making you dance. It’s honestly not much to go on, but the clues almost certainly point toward JUNO-nominee Lisa Lougheed who famously sang “Run With Us,” the hit theme song of  the classic animated Canadian cartoon The Raccoons.

KINLEY’s self-titled sophomore studio album is being released on February 21, 2020 and will also include the previously released tracks “Lightworkers“. No confirmation was available at the time of the release as to whether Lisa Lougheed will be joining KINLEY for a performance during the album launch or not.
