Music Video: Sorrey Duke It Out With Giant Rabbits On ‘Signs’

Ever wonder what happened to all the furry characters from Moby’s 2006 hit “Beautiful”? While we don’t want to presume that all giant animals are only be founding lounging around swingers parties, it seems there might be more giant bunny rabbits out there in the world than we had previously imagined. “Signs,” the newest video from Sorrey, shows another side of these brutal marauding Leporidae.

Everyone knows there’s a long standing precedent for giant anthropomorphic rabbits to run amok. It’s not all Easter Eggs and jellybeans, never mind the serious consequences of diabetes. Even the imaginary ones (See Harvey (1950) and Donnie Darko (2001)) can do some serious damage.

Despite the obvious dangers, Emilee Sorrey sounds as though she has embraced the darker path.

“It’s about tapping into the signs, or coincidences, happening around you,” explains the PEI-based band’s namesake, Emilee Sorrey. “For me, it’s the story of meeting someone who fills in all the gaps. Where I fall short they’re in abundance, and vice versa.”

Filmed by Ben Rayner of Mira Studio, the video features a battle royale of Sorrey and her band mates, duking it out against a menacing gang of life-sized rabbits who have sworn to take revenge over a mislaid flower bouquet, all filmed in the midst of the showcases at Canadian Music Week in Toronto.

In the end, settling their differences over a battle of win, Sorrey fills whatever gap she’s been experiencing in her life with her newfound friend. Let’s hope she fares as well as Elwood P. Dowd did.

“Signs” is the second single that Sorrey has released this summer, following in the wake of the dreamy “Talking To Them.” The band will both are expected to appear on the a  full-length yet-to-be-named album via Garment District Records later this fall.
