Music Video: Levi Rowan Releases ‘Lovers/Friends’ Ahead Of Harbour Station Performance

In the words of Ron Swanson, “Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing.” That goes doubly so in the case of relationship where at no time should there be any less than two whole-asses. Sometimes that defining line between being in or being out demands further definition, as is shown in Levi Rowan’s new video ‘Lovers/Friends’.

“‘Lovers/Friends’ is the classic story of two people that were under the delusion that they were meant to be, going back and forth between dating and being ‘just friends’ until what was once something beautiful has become tainted and leaves both sides broken inside,” explains Levi.

“I try to show that when people become addicted to each other it doesn’t matter how much pain someone might be. In each individuals mind, the pain is still better than not being with them.”

For ‘Lovers/Friends’ Levi is continuing his work with Daniel James of Fredericton’s Bleum who has already produced Levi’s last two tracks, “Down Low” and “What Happened”, and has been working on Levi’s upcoming album as an executive producer.

The video itself was shot by InFocus Photo & Films and features a Gotye-style duet with Levi alongside Lacey Conrad and a vocal track that’s resplendent in a wealth of auto-tune. Lacey is also a recurring member of Levi’s team, having previously appeared on several of Levi’s tracks – including his December single, What Happened“.

“I’ve known Lacey since I was a kid. She’s insanely talented. Whenever she puts something out, people will take notice,” says Levi.

Lacey and Levi deliver on their performance of a relationship that’s run its course, leaving a palpably unbridgeable gap that’s uncomfortable to watch, as they echo each other with the chorus: “You know we suck as lovers and suck as friends.”

Levi Rowan will be performing as an opener at comedian James Mullinger Harbour Station on April 28. Tickets are available online here.
