This year’s digital four-day celebration of Music•Musique NB’s Festival (506) kicked off tonight with a live-streaming of the Prix 2020 MNB Awards Show. Nineteen different awards were presented, celebrating the artists and industry professionals who have made an impact on New Brunswick’s music scene.
Les Hay Babies and Jamie Comeau & the Crooked Teeth tied as this year’s lead trophy gatherers. Each took home three awards each, with Les Hay Babies taking home three of their four of their nominations for the categories of Enregistrement de l’année, Group Recording of the Year and Choix du Public, and Jamie Comeau & the Crooked Teeth taking home three of their five nominations in the categories of Recording of the Year, Live Act of the Year and Fans’ Choice.
“I want to congratulate all of the nominees tonight, who represent just a fraction of the talent and creativity held within this province,” says Penelope Stevens, MNB President. “We want to acknowledge that there are hundreds of talented individuals not represented tonight and they, especially our BIPOC artists, really deserve our respect, recognition and support for their hard work. Thank you for making art in this province!”
