Halifax hip hop artist Frantik has brought us along for a ride with a whirlwind of his emotions. After moving away from Montreal back in 2012, Frantik was able to reunite with his biological father and meet extended family he never knew he had. Among his newfound family was his uncle Cory, whose passing inspired the emotional track and music video. These are a tribute to his life. Music Video: Jon McKiel Gives Us the Star Trek Crossover We’ve Been Waiting for With ‘Object Permanence’
Jon McKiel was already headed down a strange path with his upcoming album, Bobby Joe hope. Collaborating with an unknown entity founding in the depths of a second-hand (third-hand? fourth?) Teac A-2340, a reel-to-reel tape recorder that he’d purchased in online in 2015. Pre-loaded with a treasure trove of samples, McKiel decided to embrace this mysterious gift and work with it. Bringing along Jay Crocker (JOYFULTALK) the pair extracted the materials from the tapes to create the an alien counterpart for McKiel to jam along with.
The video “Object Permanence”, for the album’s single, is appropriately just as alien.
Single: Troy Alistair Returns With a Little Wisdom on ‘Cool Down’
It’s been a couple years since we last year from Troy Alistair. They appear back in July, 2018 with their debut single “Jump the Gun”, which was then quickly followed by a handful of tracks, and a couple side projects. Now, in our time of need, Troy Alistair has returned to dispense the wisdom of those immortal words just when we need to hear them again the most: “Cool Down”.
