Single: Troy Alistair Returns With a Little Wisdom on ‘Cool Down’

It’s been a couple years since we last year from Troy Alistair. They appear back in July, 2018 with their debut single “Jump the Gun”, which was then quickly followed by a handful of tracks, and a couple side projects. Now, in our time of need, Troy Alistair has returned to dispense the wisdom of those immortal words just when we need to hear them again the most: “Cool Down”.

“Cool Down” is the first single to be released from Troy Alistair’s self-titled debut record.

“It’s a tune about finding a way to stay calm, cool, and collected in dark times, or when you get emotional or angry. Encouraging listeners to find whatever works best for them – with a lot of reference to using music to do so,” explains Taran Guest, the band’s frontman and lyricist. “Whether it’s going to a live show and dance your face off, or put on your favourite song and sing your heart out. The endless search for positivity while trying to remove stress/anger/negative emotions in a healthy way.

“It’s a tune that’s been around for a little while. I struggled to find a way to make it come to life. I sometimes have disagreements about creative ideas at work, or personality clashes that I bottle up at the time and use music an an outlet to get them out. After I had an altercation in my life I sat down with the guitar and it kinda poured out and suddenly seemed to feel right. I can be a pretty passionate guy and I tend to write when i’m feeling intense emotions.”

The band have more music to come, with their next single expected to be released on May 8, 2020, and and album release planned for the summer. As with all things, Troy Alistair’s touring schedule has been postponed for obvious reasons.
