For its 12th year, OBEY Convention is gearing up for a four-day long festival filled with experimental and open-minded music that they say will push boundaries. Aiming to incite curiosity in the City of Halifax from May 30 – June 2, 2019, OBEY XII will be celebrating the onset of (actual) spring with new ideas.
Groundless Apprehensions is the impressive debut album of jazz guitarist Sam Wilson. The record highlights the work of Wilson—25—as she collaborates with an ensemble of seasoned Halifax-based players, with Andrew Jackson (Trombone), Paul Tynan (Trumpet), Tom Roach (Drums), and Matt MacLennan (Bass) rounding out the group. The Stan Rogers Folk Festival is more than just a musical celebration honouring the last of Barrett’s privateers and one of Canada’s most prolific songwriters (and rightfully, Stan Rogers should be honoured with a little more decorum than you and mates probably provide on your stumble home from the pub).
