New Music: Taktus Reflect the Works of the Legendary Philip Glass with ‘Mirrored Glass’

Mirrored Glass is the latest release from Toronto-based percussion duo Taktus, comprised of Fredericton-native Greg Harrison and Jonny Smith. The record is presented in two “sides”, one featuring compositions by Canadian electronic and classical composer Ann Southam, and the other by the legendary Philip Glass. It is a follow up to Taktus’ CBC-celebrated, ECMA-nominated work Glass Houses for Marimba (2015), their take on Southam’s Glass Houses, which was in turn inspired by Glass’ own work. Music Video: Les Hay Babies Power Up Their Time Machine with ‘Same Old, Same Old’

With the release of the second single off their upcoming album, Boîte aux lettres, Les Hay Babies have dropped a new music video that launches viewers back to the mid 1960s. Also functioning as the album’s namesake, this song pays tribute to every Acadian mother whose daughter has moved away from home.

New Music: Jonah Haché Returns With First Solo Album in Five Years — ‘That World Already Ended’

Jonah Haché is not an easy artist to pin down. He’s performed as part of bands like Les Païens, Get Used To It, Something Delicious and Stephen Lewis & The Big Band of Fun, and usually in the role of a technocratic wizard, working an elaborate magic that fleshes out the part of a larger whole. Festival (506) Returns to Edmundston for 2020

Music•Musique NB is continuing their cycle of celebrating New Brunswick’s music while celebrating the province itself. They’re wrapping up a 14-year cycle around the province that has taken Festival (560), their migrating musical event, from Moncton, Caraquet, Miramichi, Fredericton, Saint John, Saint Andrews, and finally returning to Edmundston for the first time since 2006. The three day-long event of public concerts and industry conferences also plays host to the Prix MNB Awards, celebrating the best of New Brunswick’s musical talents.
