Layne Greene Briefly Taps Into—and Out of—His Subconscious to Pen ‘Prospects’

Have you ever had a fantastic, life-changing dream with all the potential in the world to make you, wildly successful, immensely popular, fabulously rich, and a dark horse entry for Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, only to have it evaporate the moment you open your eyes? This is the evolved form of a musician who has been shaped by experience and learned when to break the rules and when to make them her own. Sluice Mixes History and a Dance Party with ‘Le succès par le travail’

Mixing reminiscence on the highs and lows of growing up in a small town with bits of the town’s cultural history, Sluice’s debut album Le succès par le travail is working double duty. The release’s youthful energy and hyper-specific regional history make it an eight-track time capsule straight out of Trevor Murphy’s life.
