Any number of tracks from Stewart Legere’s 2017 album, Quiet The Station, might have stood out as singles.  The entire album was full of hits. From its gentler swaying tracks that showed off Legere’s prowess as a songwriter to the infectious low-key dance-inducer “Please Say,” there were no shortage of highlights that made it one of our favourite albums of the year. “Carry the River,” however, grew from a story that Legere felt needed to be told, and he did it his way: with a self-produced music video and a big black cape. Nick Earle is best known as one half of Newfoundland’s award-winning blues duo, Earle & Coffin. Together they’ve won a Canadian Folk Music Award, two MusicNL awards, received several ECMA nominations, and they’ve been doing it since before they were legally old enough to play in most venues. Music Video: Carmel Mikol is Singing Someone’s Swan Song with ‘When It’s Time To Go’

This week Carmel Mikol released her first single since her 2017 album, Daughter of a Working Man. Taking a strong shift away from her singer-songwriter stylings and into leaning into a far more modern synth-pop sound, “When It’s Time To Go” heralds a new direction for Mikol’s upcoming EP, The Ice, but leaves us asking more questions than it answers.
