Shivering Songs Roll Out 2022 Lineup of Fredericton’s Winter Festival

Fredericton’s official winter music festival, Shivering Songs Festival, has announced a stellar lineup for their 2022 rendition. Following the very necessary “hyperlocal” focus of 2021 that required performing artists to live within the greater Fredericton area, this year’s festival is making welcome steps to bring in artists from further afield.

The announced lineup includes Juno Award winners recent East Coast addition Bahamas and the ever-present Rose Cousins. They’ll be joined by Halifax-based jazz singer Zamani, Ariel Posen—who, in the not so distant past, turned out to be a crowd-pleaser for audiences at Harvest Jazz & Blues, psychedelic and eccentric rockers, The Brood, Senior Citizen (or two-fifths of New Brunswick’s longstanding festival champs Grand Theft Bus), singer-songwriter Julie Doiron with her very recently released album I Thought of You, the analogue project JOYFULTALK, bluegrass wonder Alan Jeffries.

The festival’s organizers say they are working venues, as well as some new spaces, to make the festival as safe and enjoyable an experience as possible through social distancing and venue-specific COVID-19 protocols.

“We’re really excited to be presenting an incredible array of talent to Fredericton this January,” says Festival co-organizer, Zach Atkinson. “This announcement celebrates so many local and regional artists. We wanted this year’s festival to serve as a renaissance of live music after a long hiatus and scaled-back events. Our community has been a great source of support during this time, so we’re bringing them some spectacular music to cure the ‘winter blues.’ As always, we strive to focus our efforts on supporting local artists and small businesses downtown, as a way to say thanks.”

Live events will feature reduced capacity venues and safety protocols, in cooperation with the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety. Proof of double vaccination and ID will be required upon admission.

Tickets are already selling fast, with the remaining tickets for Bahamas being available exclusively through The Fredericton Playhouse Box Office. Patrons who have held on to their tickets for the long-awaited Rose Cousins show are already good to go!

The Shivering Songs Festival is set for January 18-23 in Fredericton. Additions to the festival line-up and events are expected to roll out in the weeks to come.
