PINEO & LOEB Go For a ‘Good Vibe Feeling’ on the Streets of Los Angeles

With another Summer festival season turning out to be a bit of a bust, PINEO & LOEB have done us all the kind favour of extending the dance party well into the fall with a genre-bending track “Good Vibe Feeling,” featuring rapper FUEG and saxophonist Ellie Sax.

“Good Vibe Feeling” has a lot working for it. For starters, we’re always going to be big fans of incorporating saxophone into literally just about anything, and UK-based saxophonist Ellie Sax does a great job of putting together an infectious riff.

“Brass instrumentation is something that we love incorporating into our tracks which is why we reached out to Ellie Sax and she absolutely killed it,” explains Mitchell Pineo. “She provided a playful and fun vibe that complemented and expanded on the melody of the sample.”

Secondly, the aforementioned sample comes from Canadian disco artist, Estiban, who literally provides the foundation for “Good Vibe Feeling” with the bits and pieces from his surreptitiously named album L.A. Walk, though we’ll get to that surreptitiousness in a moment.

“This track came together after scouring YouTube for some cool disco tracks to sample,” says Pineo. “We came across the album ‘L.A. Walk’ by Canadian Disco artist, Estiban (Lindsay) and immediately fell in love with the brass arrangements on the track ‘Going Away.’ Being able to sample a Canadian artist is also such a great feeling as we’re able to pay homage to a talented artist and compatriot.”

Rapper FUEG, best known as one half of the hip hop duo 4AM), ties it all together with a smooth flow and catchy lyrics.

But most importantly, we have the star of the video for “Good Vibe Feeling,” a 70-year old dancing queen by the name of Andrea Bolley, aka 6Mom, who, just as Estiban’s album suggested, is grooving hard in the streets of L.A.. That is a big vibe we wish we could have pulled off at the age of 20, let alone 70. More cities should encourage dancing in the streets, especially the cities with a strong septuagenarian demographic.

“With the pandemic still looming,” adds Pineo, “we wanted to make something fun, funky and cool that embodied our love of house music and our good vibe philosophy.”
