Playlist: Get Ready for the Lineup at the 2019 Credit Union Music PEI Week

Music PEI Week kicks off this Wednesday throughout many of Charlottetown’s venues, and to prepare you for all that we’ve put together this playlist of everyone you can catch performing! The five-day festival runs from January 23rd to the 27th and includes the Music PEI Awards, celebrating the best of the island’s music.

The full 2019 lineup for PEI Music Week includes Catherine MacLellan, Alicia Toner, Tara MacLean, Emilee Sorrey, Dennis Ellsworth, Lennie Gallant, Meaghan Blanchard, BT Flow, Eric Broadbent, Vince the Messenger, Cavy & Skitsipslow, Russell Louder, Richard Wood, Cailyn MacAulay, Emerald Junction, Kelley Mooney, Lawrence Maxwell, Todd MacLean, Little Cities, Dylan Menzie, Fayo, Arsenault Trio, Adrienne Gallant, The SOPA World Music Ensemble, Josh Obembe, Jenni & The Hummingbird, Andrew Waite, Island Jazz featuring Grahame Rhodes, Will Allen, Rick Sparkes, Aron Scott Earthquake, Death Valley Driver, and Rachel Beck.

“I love that each year we get to celebrate the excellence of our Island music community. The new discoveries are always exciting, to see new artists like Jenni and the Hummingbird emerge, or Little Cities, Russell Louder and more. The future of our music creators is promising,” says Music PEI’s director Rob Oakie.

The celebration starts with the Kick-off Party at The Guild on Wednesday, January 23rd with performances from 2018 Music PEI Award winners Catherine MacLellan, Alicia Tonerand Tara MacLean, carrying on events throughout the week and closes out on Sunday, January 27th with Winter Tales, hosted by Lennie Gallant, at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall that include performances from nominees Rachel Beck, Jenni and the Hummingbird, and Meaghan Blanchard.

The Music PEI Awards also take place Sunday afternoon at an invitation-only event at the Rodd Charlottetown Hotel while the 2019 Music PEI SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Award will be presented on Thursday, January 24th during the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Concert Charlottetown’s St. Paul’s Church. The SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Concert includes a Songwriters’ Circle performed by nominees Dennis Ellsworth, Dylan Menzie, Lennie Gallant, Meaghan Blanchard and Rachel Beck with interviews by Matt Rainnie.
