Halifax Urban Folk Festival Tease Handful Of Performers From 2018 Lineup

The Halifax Urban Folk Festival (HUFF) are announcing a handful of artists who will be performing at this year’s event between August 26th and September 3rd.

Among those announced are the festival’s three headliners, one being Hey Rosetta!’s Tim Baker. Now working on a solo project since Hey Rosetta! Announced a hiatus last year, Baker is getting back to his roots with imaginative and thoughtful lyrics and arrangements.

Along with Baker, Lilly Hiatt from Nashville, Tennessee and Brad Roberts, frontman of the JUNO award-winning Crash Test Dummies will also be headlining the festival. The three will be putting on their own performances with the Halifax All-Stars as their backing band, and they will also be performing as part of the festival’s Songwriters Circles along with third-chair performers Dustin Bentall, T. Thomason, and Mick Davis of The Novaks.

“Over the past nine years, HUFF has prided itself on bringing exceptional songwriting talent to Halifax that otherwise wouldn’t make it to our fair city, and this year is no exception,” says Mike Campbell, Artistic Director of HUFF (and former MuchMusic VJ).

“We look forward to having them collaborate with our musical All-Stars and, with the help of our generous sponsors, providing a week of great shows (many of them free!) to music lovers of all stripes in HRM.”

“Moving into the second year of our presenting sponsorship, we’re excited to work with HUFF to share live music with Halifax,” says John Allen, Founder & President of Propeller Brewing Co.

“With a long list of inspiring artists in intimate and unique venues, HUFF creates the kind of shows we’re happy to raise a glass to. This year, we’re really looking forward to welcoming HUFF into our Tasting Room to best pair our craft beer with amazing music.”

While only a handfull of what we expect to be more than thirty performers have been announced for the Halifax Urban Folk Festival, the festival say that they will be announcing more information about their 2018 programming, including additional performers, venues, and partnerships in the coming weeks.

HUFF takes place in Halifax, NS from August 26 to September 2, 2018. Tickets for these shows are available for purchase on Friday, June 22 by clicking HERE.
