Music Video: The Galpines Challenge Our Consumerist Society On ‘Visa Bill Blues’

The Galpines, Moncton’s rogue philosopher-troubadours, have crafted a harmonica-fuelled social commentary on the plight of mom-and-pop brick-and-mortar shops and the catalysts for an impending economic depression. They’re pretty bummed about being broke all the time, too. Listen to their lament with their latest music video, “Visa Bill Blues.”

“We wrote the song last year but it really came together when we worked on it in the studio. We were so pleased to get Catriona Sturton (formerly of Plumtree) to lend her badass harmonica to the track!” says Galpine Heather Narduzzi.

Constructed from the ashes of their credit score, the track details the plight of the quartet following the reassignment of their wealth to Etsy, Amazon Prime and worse. For your convenience, we’ve broken down The Galpines’ monthly expenditures for you.

Naturally, “Visa Bill Blues” was filmed on a budget.

“We filmed everything in one afternoon while eating pizza and drinking ‘pines,” says Narduzzi.

The Motorleague’s Don Levandier filmed and edited the video and also ate the last slice of pizza when he thought no one was looking.”

While the band have yet to provide a solution to consumerist society or any sustainable alternatives to capitalism, they say they are “super pleased” with the way the song and video turned out.

To recoup some of their expenses, The Galpines will be putting on a self-benefit show and album release party at the legendary Parkindale Hall on July 21st, 2018. The album is called Sorry Mom.
