Might As Well Go For A Soda – Rock The Boat Announce 2018 Festival Lineup

The single-day Rock the Boat music festival,  part of the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival in Prince Edward Island have just announced the lineup for the Oyster Festival’s 64th anniversary.

Kim Mitchell, best known as a constant radio presence in the 80s with his hits “Go for Soda“, “Patio Lanterns“, “Rock N’ Roll Duty” and “Easy to Tame” will be headlining the 2018 Rock The Boat music Festival along with 2018 Best Rock Album JUNO Award winners The Glorious Sons.

The headliners will be joined by The Royal North, Andrew Wait and the Firm and Danny Drouin, along with returning fan-favourites, The Ellis Family Band.

“We are excited. Rock the Boat has grown to be a top event on PEI. Its relaxed atmosphere and cost-effective pricing always bring event goers back each and every year. We have a good lineup in The Glorious Sons, Kim Mitchell and other PEI talent joining them on stage. Its going to be fun,” says festival organizer Adam MacLennan.

“This is the first event of its kind west of Summerside. Obviously Cavendish and Summerside are able to host some good shows, but this is the first in Western PEI. We try to include Western PEI artists in our lineup each year and we are excited to have a western boy again this year in it. It gives them the ability to showcase their talent in front of over 5000 + people. Its celebrating the cultures and great seafood that we have here in PEI. Celebrating community is what it is all about! Tyne Valley is the best!””

The Tyne Valley Oyster Festival operates as a non-profit organization fundraising money for our local community rink, and various other non-profit organizations in our community. In 2017 the festival raised over $100,000.00 and were able to pay off the mortgage for their local rink.

“It’s actions like that, that make our community proud of the work we do,” says MacLennan.

Rock the Boat Music Festival takes place at Green Park during the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival on Saturday, August 4th. Tickets for Rock the Boat go on sale today, Tuesday, April 3rd, at 12:00 pm.
