Talk about possibilities! With his latest single, Award-winning Nova Scotian country artist Thomas Stajcer asks the most profound of questions: “If I Had One Bottle More.” The answer, if such a proposition might truly be fathomed by mere mortals and should we allow ourselves to believe in something greater than ourselves, is a resounding “absolutely almost anything within reason, but then again, maybe not.” Continue reading Thomas Stajcer Challenges the Odds, the Universe and Bad Ideas on ‘If I Had One Bottle More’

Owen Meany’s Batting Stance Suggests ‘Krakow’ Contains a Deeper, Darker Tale Than Most Songs Have a Right To
Daniel Walker is establishing himself as a storyteller. Given the literary nature of his band’s name, Owen Meany’s Batting Stance, an homage to one of John Irving’s great novels, it’s unsurprising. Walker’s most recent album, Feather Weights, is presented as a series of vignettes; each song a self-contained short story. Continue reading Keonté Beals Finds the Line Between a Good Time and Bad Behaviour on ‘Vodka x Me’
Maxim Cormier Celebrates Music and Family with ‘Maxim and Gervais Cormier: Live at the Fortress of Louisbourg’
My first thought when I listened to Live at the Fortress of Louisbourg was ‘This is what music is all about.’ Two performers, two guitars, no electricity. A great display of artistry in front of friends who can’t wait to show their appreciation. You can feel the room’s bright mood in the playing on stage and in the applause that surrounds it. This was an evening of laughter and comfort. Continue reading Maxim Cormier Celebrates Music and Family with ‘Maxim and Gervais Cormier: Live at the Fortress of Louisbourg’
