Jon McKiel’s new video for ‘Brothers’ the second single off of his upcoming album Memorial Ten Count hits close to home. Filmed in McKiel’s hometown of Amherst, Nova Scotia and his current home of Sackville, New Brunswick in the midst of winter it’s a familiar landscape you might mistake for anywhere right now. It’s the sprigs of colour that make life standout: the field of windmills, the curious wayside attractions, and naturally, Grandma Josephine the River Queen. Pity City: Saint John’s All Ages Boom and Bust

It’s one in the morning as I sit on what feels like the end of the earth. In reality, I’m looking out into the vastness of the Bay of Fundy from Tin Can Beach in Saint John, New Brunswick; the divorced Father of Confederation. The smell of sulfur and sea salt give the city its charm and, when coupled with it’s rich history, it makes Saint John a truly unique place to live. Music created here is just as distinct as the city itself, and has struck a chord with the teenagers who call this place home. Unfortunately, the vast majority of performances often occur in nineteen plus establishment – licensed bars and restaurants which make it difficult for youth to see live music. There is an alternative though: Saint John’s all ages music scene. While it has never been perfect, it means the world to the young bands grinding to get their voices heard, and those who crave the thrill of seeing adolescent chaos unfold before their eyes. New Music: Levi Rowan Releases ‘Nude Beach’

18 year-old New Brunswick hip-hop artist Levi Rowan’s debut EP, Nude Beach unfolds like a coming-of-age story. Early in the album, Levi paints a picture of his life growing up in the rural community of Belleisle. It’s a place where gossip travels fast and a bad reputation is hard to shake. Levi learned this early – after fighting back against bullies he found himself labelled as a troublemaker. When the people around you assume nothing but the worst about your character it’s easy to become depressed. Thankfully, Levi found his voice through music.

Music Video: B.A. Johnston Releases ‘Drivethru Beef’

B.A. Johnston, who was reportedly raised by bears, and current nationwide record holder for the most popular press release ever crafted has released a second video from his upcoming album Gremlin’s 3. This one goes right for the coronary as B.A. serenades us with the song of the everyman – the struggle, the mayo, the missing gravy, with ‘Drivethru Beef’.

Cedric Noel left Fredericton for Montreal in October. We didn’t treat him right, we didn’t show him how much we needed him and now four months later he’s still trying to move on.
