Single: Wolf Castle Says Go Big or Go Home When It Comes to Love on ‘Believe It’

Two-time ECMA-nominated Mi’kmaq rapper Wolf Castle has released a new single and declaration of love in the form of “Believe It,” a trap pop ballad about striking while the iron is hot and taking big chances when it comes to love.

“‘Believe It” is about recognizing your moment while you’re still in it, or more specifically, “catching feelings for someone when it was least expected,” as Wolf Castle puts it.

Tristan Grant, AKA Wolf Castle, experienced that moment last year when he moved from Pabineau First Nation in New Brunswick to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and didn’t realize what he was about to leave behind.

“[I} became friends with someone from my hometown who I had a crush on,” says Grant. “I didn’t really pursue cause I was moving out of the city. So I left and just started living this different rap life, met a lot of new people, learned a lot and was kind of wrapped up in that musician lifestyle. This person never left my mind though, and kind of saved me when I needed it most. I like to think I’m a loner and don’t need anyone but that’s not true for almost anyone.”

Despite in the initial hesitation, Grant says that, luckily, the wait paid off and the two ended up together.

“I decided to take a chance and go for it. Verse two is kind of celebrating that new feeling of a relationship and still being wild, but like, more genuine and embracing that excitement. If life is all confusing, and some refer to it (and love) as a game, well, I make the choice that if love is a game, hypothetically, I’d rather have it than nothing at all. In life we might as well take chances if we have one shot. Never learned anything new by staying home and doing nothing other than id rather leave the house. If it works out cool, if not, you figure something out about yourself and what that experience was.”

Wolf Castle is preparing for some upcoming dates in April. In the meantime, “Believe It” is the first in a  series of loose singles that will be released throughout the spring of 2020 leading to the release of his upcoming EP Gold Rush later this summer.
