New Music: Jerry-Faye Embodies Sincerity On Debut Album ‘In Sum’

Any songwriter preparing to release an album will tell you, it’s damn hard work. First you have to write the songs, then edit them, fine tune every detail and then set them in arrangements that are appropriate to the lyrical content and mood of the piece. Then, of course, you have to labour over recording them, making sure every note is perfectly placed, every line perfectly sung and every last penny of your savings spent. This is all before even thinking about track listings, artwork, duplication, promotion, airplay, etc, etc, etc. . . It’s exhausting.

Festival 506 is coming up next month and at the heart of it is the 2017 Prix MNB Awards. It’s a celebration of music and/or musique in the province, this year happening in Moncton between October 12-15, with the winners being announced on Friday, October 13. New Music: Elephant Skeletons Releases Real Cuts/Surreal Blood as TAAPE

Is Elephant Skeletons having some form of identity crisis? Maybe. He has recently released new music under the strange and poorly-presented guise of TAAPE. The album, called Real Cuts/Surreal Blood, was released September 6th. He claims it’s just a “place” to put the songs that haven’t found their spot on his album The Traveller, but why is it that they can’t co-exist under the same Bandcamp account?
