New Music: Daveband is Glowing on ‘This Was Your Dad At 28’

David Archibald- the titular Dave of Daveband- is reflecting on some of the toughest times of his life with the group’s debut full-length This Was Your Dad At 28. Billed as “looking back at a time that passed too quickly, before you knew it was happening”, TWYD seems on the surface to be a never-ending grin of nostalgia. Those songs now feature on Rich’s latest release United States, a synth-heavy pop-rock record that is as flashy, assertive, and complex as its subject matter. Single: Burry Struggles to Find Space Amidst a Familial Tug-of-War on ‘3 Birthdays’

“Is it bad I’ve made this about me?” sings Burry on their latest single, “3 Birthdays,” second-guessing their right to a special day all their own when there’s a familial tug-of-war at stake. Crooning away with the same melancholic and melodic anxiety that Jens Lekman chugs each morning, Burry picks away at a balancing point between isolation and commitment.
