Single: Tomato/Tomato’s ‘Kite Song’ is Warm Fuzzies and Big Horns
Not to say that Tomato/Tomato have had any false starts, but every band experience a period of finding their footing as they experience success on increasingly larger scales. Tomato/Tomato are less than a month away from releasing their new album, Canary in a Coal Mine, and it might just be the album they’re forever remembered for — it’s likely to dwarf their previous releases. When Rachel Beck set out to cover Whitney Houston’s 1987 platinum hit, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” it wasn’t with the intention of reproducing note for note. Rather than jumping in with both feet, where Houston’s track largely found its strength as a high energy dance number, Beck instead chose to focus in on the meaning behind the song’s lyrics.
