Halifax Pop Explosion Announce Full Line-Up For 2017 Extravaganza

We still haven’t gotten over the headliners that Halifax Pop Explosion have announced for their 2017 music extravaganza. The 25th anniversary seems to mean the festival is pulling out all the stop. They’ve already announced the likes of Charlotte Day Wilson, Clairmont The Second, Ria Mae, Tasha The Amazon, Weaves, Charles Bradley & His Extraodinarires, Cloud Nothings, Patrick Watson, and Japandoids along with comedian Wyatt Cenac. Ria Mae is getting prolific with the singles lately, equally so with the music videos thereof. The 2017 ECMA Solo Recording Of The Year winning artist has been busy this last year with her break-out single ‘Clothes Off’ reaching platinum-level sales in Canada, and recently finishing off an American/European tour with superstars Tegan & Sara. Single: Julie Doiron & The Wrong Guys Release ‘Love And Leaving’

Julie Doiron is a household name in New Brunswick. A veritable powerhouse of Canadian music, she dug her roots in Eric’s Trip — the first Canadian band to be signed to the SubPop Records, the same label that made Nirvana famous during the grunge heydays of the 90’s. She was also instrumental in establishing Sappyfest, the small, yet influential festival that counts itself as one of Canada’s best kept musical secrets and has been host to countless local and international acts outside of the mainstream.
