Frantically Atlantic might be a relative term. While you might work up a sweat dancing to all the jigs and reels offered by the Fredericton-based duo, the underlying theme of their traditional sound is a relaxed one. This year, Messtival is really growing into its role as everyone’s least favourite festival. From a bottomless sarchasm to a religious cult, Messtival have come to accept that all along they just wanted to mess with people. For years they have been subconsciously living out their fantasies as sadistic dungeon masters.

East Coast Music Portraits: Halifax Photographer’s 500+ Photos Of East Coast Music Scene Go On Display
In celebration of the amazing music scene on the east coast, Halifax photographer Scott Blackburn has put together an exhibit made up of what may be the most complete roster of musicians, fans, and industry professionals. Last year Blackburn took his camera to the 2017 ECMAs in Saint john to begin a photo project capturing those involved in the scene. Over the week-long festival and conference, he took 550 portrait shots of 550 of the people who make the music scene what it is. Now, one year later, the photos are on display at the 2018 East Coast Music Week in Halifax.

Saint John Theatre Company Announce Their 29th Season
Still in the midst of their 28th season and ongoing renovations at their BMO Studio Theatre the Saint John Theatre Company announced its 29th season today. The announcement included three of their historically impressive large-scale Main Stage Series productions at the Imperial Theatre, a number of smaller works hosted at SJTC’s own BMO Studio Theatre, and a handful of works produced in partnership with other theatre companies.
