Canadian prog rock legends Rush have been providing staple cover songs for technically proficient bar room rockers for half a century now, but none come to mind that quite nail Geddy Lee’s polarizing vocals like Partner’s Josée Caron. The band released a cover of “Limelight” from their Polaris Heritage Prize session, and it’s eerily spot on.
“We watched a documentary about RUSH and we fell in love with the band,” say the band. “They seem like such nice guys. It caused us to hear the music in a new way, with a much deeper appreciation. By doing the cover, we hoped to pay tribute to our newfound appreciation and to expand our horizons as musicians by learning these unique and complex arrangements.”
Partner also ominously hint that their Rush cover gives us a glimpse into what to expect next from the band….
